Established in 1973, our company originally concentrated on researching and providing the solutions for difficult manufacturing challenges primarily found in the areas of electromechanical, magnetic and materials technology. As the business grew with our success, we discovered that our customers wanted more; they often said, "Now build it." And we did. By adding engineering and manufacturing capabilities to state-of-the-art equipment, we have become more than a technical resource.

In 1992 MTR built and occupied a new manufacturing facility in the Brookings, South Dakota Interstate Industrial Park. The decision to locate in Brookings was made based on the community’s strong commitment to business and its highly productive work force. In addition, its proximity to South Dakota State University’s College of Engineering provides MTR the opportunity to utilize research facilities as well as faculty expertise. MTR in return provides University students invaluable hands-on work experience and participation in the creation of state-of-the-art products.
