PROBLEM SOLVING

MTR’s problem-solving capabilities are demonstrated by our flux-gate compass production. A custom avionics manufacturer was experiencing high fallout and low yields due to severe quality problems at their previous manufacturer.  After bringing their flux-gate compass detecting units to MTR, we conducted extensive research regarding the product and the processes used in producing it.

After research, a  solution was devised redesigning the critical manufacturing processes. These included tooling which MTR is capable of producing in-house. Our extensive metallurgy experience, cutting-edge production capability and attention to detail resulted in an immediate yield improvement. (Approaching 100%.) Our willingness to work on the problem created a strong trust relationship with our customer. In addition, by eliminating productivity losses resulting from poor yields we were able to offer them significant cost-savings.

As a result of our research development and work effort, MTR was qualified by the FAA as an aircraft component manufacturer with certified production and quality documentation far exceeding any ISO requirements or guidelines.

Another example of our problem-solving capabilities is demonstrated in the production of the railroad crossing gate lights. The customer’s existing product required highly-skilled labor for installation and they were seeking a railroad crossing gate light that could be easily installed at no premium cost. Normally achieving this flexibility would have required modification of the whole unit - a very costly proposition. Instead MTR Technologies designed and manufactured a superior light easily installed with unskilled labor.

In each of these examples, MTR successfully met all customer goals: quality, tooling, production scheduling and cost.
